Somehow a month has gone by without a blog post. I swear I blinked a couple time and all of November evaporated out from under me, just like magic.

Needless to say, things have been busy. Mr. Silver is back on the road for the winter (boo), and I’ve undergone a career change in the day job arena. Don’t get me wrong. I love my new job. It’s just aided and abetted this month’s utter disappearance.

We’ve all (yes, this includes you readers) also undergone a major change behind the scenes. Since this is a season to express gratitude, I’d like to thank Emma very publicly for her help with the Fantasy Heights series. She’s been with us from halfway through the development of Episode 3: At Her Command through most of Episode 13: Pressure. She’s stuck with this project through some major life changes, including a career change, a move, and bringing a child into this world.

Unfortunately, another life change (baby #2) has made it impossible for Emma to continue with this project. While I’m overjoyed for another blessed event, it does complicate things for Fantasy Heights. Right now I’m working without a developmental editor, and let’s be honest, here: that ain’t good.

We already knew Emma’s schedule would be an issue. Things had slowed to a crawl with Pressure‘s copyedits. It took us three months (THREE MONTHS!) to get through that process last time. Ouch. The pregnancy was a surprise, but it only solidified what we already knew: that the time had come to make an editorial change so that we wouldn’t repeat the slowdown.

Episode 14: Renegade is longer and much more… involved than Pressure. To do this without Emma, and knowing I’m flying without a copy-editor as well, is pretty intimidating. The slowdown is not only inevitable, but necessary.

Meanwhile, I had kept Emma out of the developmental editing for Sessions. The only thing holding us back on the release of episode two is me simply lacking the time to produce the episode.

Now, I’m not writing this post to complain, only to explain why things are so dead around here. I need to rebuild my editing support, and adjust to my new schedule (yet again).

Hang in there with me, please. We’ll get there, I promise.
