Is There An Ap For This?

I’m back to work this morning; One of the stand-alones needed a synopsis and I hit a “some stuff happens here” moment and decided to take a blogging break. Funny how that happens, right? I might get crazy and post something on Facebook later when I’m supposed to be polishing the work-list for the rest of 2012. Anyway, I hope everyone had —  or is still having — a great holiday. Postings may be a bit scarce around here until the week of the eighth, but someone on the team will post updates should any noteworthy news arise.

Alrighty Then

Much to the chagrin of the accounting slave, we’ve given up hope that Smashwords and Amazon will ever integrate, and thusly published the whole works for the Kindle ourselves. But because individual entities cannot list free titles, we had to get semi-creative and release The New Girl with a complimentary copy of Help Wanted attached. Perhaps not the most inventive solution, but likely the least confusing. At Her Command went up as a separate title. [Brain-storming session; three people in conference call. It has just been discovered that no one, not even the lead character, has a surname on record.] EDITOR: So what about Derek? MEG: Smalls. EDITOR: What? Why? MEG: I don’t know. It just popped in there. [In the background, critique partner bursts out laughing, expelling air at an alarming rate, until left breathless and wheezing.] MEG: What? What’s funny? CRITIQUE PARTNER: (gasping) Google. Google Derek Smalls, once. [Conference call is interrupted by soft staccato of resentful typing, followed by pause for search results. All groan.]

This Week

Most people around the world know that this week is a big holiday week here in the States — lots of family gatherings and overeating and American football and that sort of thing. As a result, Twitter, the blog and Facebook might fall even more quiet than usual; if I have to decide between writing and playing online, writing will always win out. So rest assured that even if my media goes quiet for a bit, things are still cranking behind the scenes. Back to normal by Monday, I hope.
