Hi, everybody! You may have noticed some changes around here. Our playground needed a mobile-friendly upgrade. This new layout also suits my crazy schedule. Changes include removing the blog from the front page. New navigation also makes it easier for visitors to reach the highest-traffic info. More changes will hit the Fantasy Heights page as soon as some kinks get worked out——pun intended, I’m sure. Text changes still need some wrenching to improve readability. I hope to complete the CSS design on Friday (just as soon as I figure out how to monkey with this layout’s CSS). I did get some emails around Christmastime complaining about the free ebooks page… Read More

Happy Friday! I’m getting a bunch of questions about the Review Blitz, so I’ll answer the most common in public so y’all know what’s what. Q. (paraphrased) Are you crazy? You’re just giving away free books for people to review? A. I’ve always comped copies for reviews. In the right sidebar of the site, and on the contact page, there’s a Review Copy Request Form link. It’s been there almost as long as this site has been up. And no, I’m not crazy. Reviews are super important for discoverability. Another tutorial went up this morning! How To Nuke A Document Without Losing Italics This one used to be on Smashwords under my editing name, but since I can’t be arsed to promote it, I figured what the heck — it’s posted here now, for free. It still needs prettying up, but the process works all the same. Visit the tutorials page. Also, I’ll point out the DIY section on the site’s Contact page. This page contains links to all sorts of things, like the review request form, the beta-team signup form, &c. Oh! If you haven’t already, today’s the last day to sign up for October’s giveaway! Don’t miss… Read More

Awesome weekend at the Silver house: quickie kitchen remodel almost done. We went to see Annabelle, which I really liked, even if it did scare the crap out of me. Kitten update: We are mobile. We have learned to hiss, spit, make Halloween-cat back arches at the dog, who gets all scared and offended by the whole thing. We have also learned to fight with our brother and sisters, and to stick our paws in mama-cat’s face until we get all the attention. Today I have to close off from the world to steal back my work hours, so things might be a bit quiet in the front-of-the-house this week.… Read More
