Easter Egg

So I’m on the phone this morning with Emma, who says I have a memory with more holes than a congressional hearing. (Okay, that’s not what she really said, but I’m on my third cup of coffee and things can get a little hyperbolic around here even without the joy juice.) I was supposed to post this yesterday, and completely spaced it off. A bit of trivia about Lovers Walk: The attorneys mentioned — Tami and Bryce — are named after two long-time readers who have both written in at one time or another. Hi, guys! You made it into print!

Study Day

Lovers Walk is out with the beta team, so today I’m taking a study day to get ready for the revisions ahead. I’m not sure exactly how long the revision/polish process will take, but I’ll go ahead and re-post this: Review Copy Request Form Anyone interested in an ARC of Lovers Walk should fill out that form. I’ll send out ARCs just as soon as the revs and most of the polish is applied. (Remember, ARCs are never — or very rarely — the finished product.) Have a good Monday. Off to read!

Oh, Monday. You So Crazy

Still working to wrap LOVERS WALK and a ton of other tasks going on in the background. Today, we’re also bracing for yet another storm. Hard to believe, I’m sure. In other news, it’s April 1st tomorrow, the day I avoid the Internet. See, if you point up and say there’s a sign on the ceiling that says gullible, I’m that one friend who looks up there every single time, no matter how many times you’ve pulled that gag. So. I shall be scarce tomorrow, save for posting another anonymous Small Triumph submission (that actually made me laugh out loud).

Because Reasons?

Thanks to deadlines, I’m pretty sure I’ll forget to post this later in the week. Here it is, several days early, just in case. For those of you wondering where the Calais County series came from, it started with this article both Emma and I read last year about (dubious) origins of Valentine’s Day.. More specifically, the idea came from this paragraph: The brutal fete included a matchmaking lottery, in which young men drew the names of women from a jar. The couple would then be, um, coupled up for the duration of the festival – or longer, if the match was right. Let me replay the ensuing conversation: EMMA:… Read More

You Know It’s Time To Write When…

I think I’ll have to establish some rules if I’m to continue working on two series at once: 1) No cross-series bickering. (The alarm clock interrupt a bickering match between Hector from Fantasy Heights Season Two and David from Calais County book 3.) 2) No cross-series flirting. (The bickering match above was caused by Hector flirting with both heroines from Calais County books two and three.) Yet more proof that writing is among the strangest professions…

Sugar On Top?

You want to know the only bad part of being an obsessively proud half-million-mile Toyota owner? The part where there’s a polar vortex and your beloved, ultra-reliable vehicle says, “Oh HELL no. I am not starting at 50 below this time.” (Never let it be said I can’t anthropomorphize a thing.) So instead of answering e-mails, thanking a ton of folks and touching base with our new betas, I’ve been dealing with my metallic child’s issues. Sorry. Tomorrow should be better. (Yes, I realize I probably shouldn’t have said that out loud.) Meanwhile, Gentleman’s Privilege seems to be selling pretty well. Have I mentioned lately that you lot rock? Thank… Read More

Afterglow

If you haven’t already, please head on over to Facebook and give the Kayla The Bibliophile page a like. They’ll be doing a 5k-likes party soon, and there will likely be some Fantasy Heights shenanigans involved. In other news, Barnes & Noble is STILL processing Gentleman’s Privilege. I need to withdraw into the writing cave today but I promise I’ll keep an eye on them. As soon as we’re live, I’ll update the Calais County page as well as the previous post. E-mail notifications will go out tonight or tomorrow. Also, yes, there are two more planned Calais County books. We’ve got two more Marshall boys to go: Alex (the… Read More
