It’s May-The-Fourth-Be-With-You day! It’s also the day I finally close April’s giveaway and open May’s. (Mr. Silver was home for the first time since Easter this past weekend and you can imagine how much got done.) April’s contest winner: Christie D Congrats, Christie! Enter May 2015’s giveaway

Okay, so the good news: I have 49 whole minutes remaining in the office today. The bad news: I think I had a TOTAL of 49 minutes to work on writing-related things last week. I promise things will slow down after this week, and that we’ll make progress. I’m sorry Pressure is taking so long. This single-parent-but-not-single-just-husband-is-on-the-road-like-ALL-the-time thing truly sucks. Sexy man minions. I need sexy man minions… Manions?

So it’s decided to be winter again here in Minnesota. I’m sure you can picture the look on my face now that we’ve got snow in the forecast tonight. (Posts like this are the reason the “Recreational Complaining” category exists on this blog.) On the other hand, I’m about to edit a Josh scene. So I’ve got that going for me. Which is nice. Have a great Monday!

Okay, so Joy surprised me with a bit more than the lone audio cover I needed this morning… Here’s this: And this:

Happy Monday morning! Today, I’m spending part of my morning doing the final listen-through of At Her Command‘s audiobook. After that, it’s back to the editing cave with a big-ol’ mug of coffee. After that, I’ll be cleaning my office, since I just caught the dog hiding leftover chicken in his doggie blanket. I cut the chicken up for him this morning, and he’s bringing it up here for safe keeping, piece by piece. #momface Likely, this will be Wilson and I once the cats figure out where he hid the chicken:

So I forced myself to take an entire three-day weekend off; Mostly because Mr. Silver was home, but also because I had those days off from das day job, and I can’t even remember the last time I wasn’t working at one job or other. The vacation itself felt great — lots of cleaning, laundry, and otherwise sleeping my face off — but now that I’m back I feel like I’ve entered an office abandoned over a thousand years ago. This morning I’m gathering clues trying to figure out what went on in this place, and what this office’s mysterious owner was trying to accomplish. And then I remember the… Read More

I haven’t done this in a while. Maybe never under this pen name, but I think it’s worthwhile to post a reminder now and again. HOW TRADITIONAL PUBLISHING REALLY WORKS Legitimate publishing houses NEVER CHARGE YOU MONEY. If a publishing house has expressed interest in your work but wants to charge you OUT-OF-POCKET for editing, cover art, distribution, placement or anything else, it’s a scam. (The only possible exception to this is a contractual thing where an author might be charged by a legitimate house for making excessive changes at the galley stage. These charges and terms will be clearly stated in the contract; such clauses exist to save certain… Read More
