Morning, everybody. I know we’re a week past deadline and patience is wearing thin. I’ve just sent the book off for one last round with Emma (editor) for what we all hope is the last round of polish. This won’t take a lot of time, but it is extremely nerve-wracking because we know we’ve reached a ‘point of no return’ with this episode. Virtually every small reveal, every scrap of exposition, affects not only books eight and nine, but reaches way out into the continuation of this series as well. That is why we are being extra OCD about this episode. I apologize profusely for the delay. Also, I did… Read More

I think for a lot of us this morning, it’s not about wanting to help, but needing to help those affected by Sandy. Red Cross Donate blood or money, or both. Meantime, take a moment today to think good thoughts about the public servants who stick their necks out to protect their fellow man. In completely unrelated news, there might be postage on the forums later today about WHW’s delay; it depends on how much I get done this morning. And speaking of which… Be safe.

Morning, everyone — I’m taking a break in my oh-my-God-everyone-out-east-is-turning-into-a-Jack-and-Rose-reenactment panic attack to announce I’ve made the decision to delay Wish Her Well‘s release; the episode is nearly ready. It’s just… not ready. On the upside, it’s weighing in at 28,000+ words, making it the longest episode by far (which is what’s slowing us down so much). The delay won’t be too terribly long. I’ll update as soon as I know more, and for everyone out east, please be smart and careful.

Whenever I talk about release dates I always add “barring anything unforeseen”. Well, the unforeseen happened: We had a break-in last week. Don’t worry. No one was home, no one was hurt or anything, but try as I might not to let it affect me, apparently “HULK SMASH” is not a recommended revisions method. The episode isn’t yet in the shape readers deserve, and right now I’m worried about hitting the marks in an already tight production schedule. Wish Her Well will probably still make the Halloween target, but if it’s late, blame me, not Amazon or Smashwords or whoever. Not coincidentally, it’ll continue to be pretty quiet ’round these parts.… Read More

World’s happiest dog, right there. Also world’s best place to escape revisions. Speaking of which… Have a good one.

A note for US readers: This November, vote for whomever you want. Just vote. People bitch and whine all the time about how are politicians are no longer statesmen and have no sense of civic duty. Really? Look who’s talking? Civic duty = registered voter who actually votes. The deadline to register is coming up fast so get off your butt and get it done. Thank you, and have a nice day.

So I’m getting ready to kick Monday in the teeth (I’ve been working on a Thomas scene. Can you tell?) and since the questions are starting to pile up in the inbox again, here’s our projected launch date for Book 7: Halloween. Again, this is a projected date, which means that even if the book is technically published on that date, it could still take a couple days (or longer) to show up on your favorite retailers. Smashwords is always first, Amazon second, B&N third. The others are anyone’s guess. Frankly, right now it feels as if it’ll take a miracle to get Wish Her Well edited and ready for its closeup by… Read More

Tomorrow (Saturday) is Star Wars reading day! I won’t be reading a Star Wars book. I’m busy reading Rick Riordan’s Son of Neptune right now, but I promise I will be making pew-pew noises while I do. Or possibly chasing my editor with a plasma torch. I’m in that sort of mood. What will everyone else be reading?

I’m working from home today. Outside: blustery winds. Inside: three snoring cats and a dog who barks in his sleep. Can I go back to the office now?
Continue ReadingSlow Week
Here’s a shocker: it’ll be a quiet week around here. Still with the writing, soon to be editing as well, plus admin stuff to be done this week. Let it never be said that life is boring. Or that I can’t use “be” 70 times in a single post.
