What Day Is It, Even?

I’m posting a day early because I’m out of town for business Monday and Tuesday. I’ll be starting a new day job, so things are exciting and interesting and busy, to say the least. It’s all good, though; once we’re past this initial patch of unknowns, my schedule will be delightfully regimented, which will make life much easier ’round here. Yay! Otherwise, the Review Blitz is still happening. Don’t be afraid to request copies! The monthly giveaway is also going strong. Have you entered yet? Seven free audiobooks, people. SEVEN. Have a great week, y’all.

October Giveaway

October’s Giveaway is something different. This month I’m giving away seven (7… 7!) complimentary Fantasy Heights AUDIOBOOK codes to three lucky winners. That’s over thirteen hours of listening, and about a fifty dollar value. These codes are redeemable at audible.com only. No Amazon or iTunes. I did get codes specific to US and UK, so if you can shop at audible.com.uk, you can enter, too! We’re using rafflecopter this time, which gives you extra chances to win. Scroll down to the bottom of the Giveaways page to find the entry portal. Good luck!

More About The Review Blitz

Happy Friday! I’m getting a bunch of questions about the Review Blitz, so I’ll answer the most common in public so y’all know what’s what. Q. (paraphrased) Are you crazy? You’re just giving away free books for people to review? A. I’ve always comped copies for reviews. In the right sidebar of the site, and on the contact page, there’s a Review Copy Request Form link. It’s been there almost as long as this site has been up. And no, I’m not crazy. Reviews are super important for discoverability. Lack of reviews can bar an author from certain promotional opportunities. Giving away free books in exchange for reviews is considered… Read More

Wat Tuesday

Reasons why I have gotten nothing productive done these last two days: 1) 2) 3) I’d take a picture of my extremely neglected kitchen and bathrooms, but the CDC is standing outside with quarantine tape. So. I’m taking part of the day off to clean, obviously, but then some of you may be receiving an email later on today. Those on the giveaway list may even receive two (provided I survive the bathroom cleanings). Have a great Tuesday!

I can’t give away all the details quite yet because there are two things still pending, but suffice to say that you could win many, many hours of Fantasy Heights audiobooks… Stay tuned. I’ll post more once I know for certain that I have things squared away for our UK readers.

File Updates

I finally managed to get those file updates uploaded; if you see updates on your Kindle, that’s why. The changes are mostly under-the-hood type stuff with a few corrections thrown in for fun. I hope all our US readers are having a great (and safe) Labor Day weekend. School doesn’t start here until Wednesday. Am not entirely convinced I’ll make it until then…

PSA: Dialogue Tags

Authors and editors, lend me your ears: I read a lot. I love books, and I love stories. Now, before I get into the following rant, let’s get something straight. I am not perfect. I have my strengths and weaknesses as an author. As an editing team, Emma and I never catch every problem. We follow up with a beta team in an attempt to catch issues in mechanics, continuity and whatever else, and we STILL don’t catch every problem. Mistakes and issues embarrass the shit out of me, and I’ve been embarrassed a lot over the years, okay? So I’m not speaking from a position of superiority, I’m speaking… Read More
