Regarding Kindle

Over the last week or so, I’ve been repeatedly stunned to hear from people: “But I can’t read e-books. I don’t have a Kindle.” (as they text me from their smartphone.) Honeys, if you have a phone, you have a Kindle! Visit this page to read all about it. You’ll note there are several different devices covered, from PCs, laptops, tablets, and etc. There are also apps from Barnes & Noble, so no matter which retailer you prefer, you can take books with you wherever you go. And what I love most about having both a Kindle and a Kindle app, if I forget my Kindle at home, the two… Read More

Amazon Update

According to Amazon, this series-numbering glitch was a bit more complex than they thought, so it could be mid-May before their series links produce accurate results. I’m sorry if this ticks new readers off. I did update all Amazon files so that the complete Season One listing contains all nine episode names, but… Yeah. It’s a temporary problem. I do think it’ll be a great change for everyone who likes series/serials. (Eventually) Back to the revision cave. Have a great Wednesday.

FYI

Amazon is in the process of “fixing” their internal handling of series books. And by “fixing” I mean completely breaking. Should any of you click the link that says Fantasy Heights Series on a FH title, you’ll see they think Season One is only four episodes long. It’s NINE episodes long. I’m so sorry if this is confusing the heck out of readers new to the series. Amazon is supposed to have this fixed by April 14th, but until then, hang in there. (This is part of the reason we put the numbers right on the covers. Series have their own unique challenges, no?)

Lovejoy

Because Joy is a freakin’ rockstar, I got this in my inbox this morning so we can fit in with the cool kids: Covers will start changing at the three venues where the bundle is currently available: Amazon Barnes & Noble AllRomance E-books In other news, I’ve enrolled Season One into Amazon’s Matchbook program. Those of you who regularly take advantage of that program — and from what I’m hearing, that’s a LOT — we’re all set to roll now because Amazon’s Author Central support is pretty dang amazing. In still other news, Mr. Silver gets home in… about 38 hours. Anyone who needs anything from me before next Tuesday,… Read More

Sally-Field Day

So today is the annual hat-in-hand day when I ask (beg) everyone who’s read a Meg Silver title to please review that title on the retailer of your choice. It seems like such a small thing, but the number of reviews makes a difference in visibility, so every single review counts (and is much appreciated). No, it doesn’t have to be a five-star review. Be honest. Feedback is hoarded like gold ’round here. And yes, everyone keeps telling me I need a street team. I will likely get one soon as someone explains what that is…

Canary

To prevent any undue celebration or panic, this post is notification that we have just pushed a “canary” file update to Amazon. We used the bundled Help Wanted and The New Girl version. Please do not mistake this cover/file upgrade for an early release of Book 6. This is not the new episode. This is a Kindle-only bundle of books one and two. As seen above, the file is sporting a new cover. The updates also introduce working navigational controls, and the typo cleanups. For those readers who purchased the Kindle bundle, Amazon might notify you of an available file update. I doubt it, though; on the surface, the changes made were very… Read More

Confession Day

It’s confession day. 1) I suck at Facebook2) I do not even know how to work Twitter3) Even though I know Amazon’s ranking system is totally broken right now, this Help Wanted ranking still made me smile: #104 Free in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Free in Kindle Store) #3 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Fiction > Erotica 4) With Help Wanted‘s first anniversary coming up, I was harassed into planning an anniversary post that turned into a SpoilerZone post instead. I confess to having fun, picking out the top three… ahem. Top five favorite moments from that episode. Back to the mines for a while. Lots of writing to get done before editorial meeting later today.… Read More

Durp Saturday

Okay, normally I wouldn’t be around on a weekend (I do keep office hours, believe it or not) but this was worth an update. Valuable lesson learned at Kindle Direct yesterday. One tiny change to even the book details will shunt it back to the very beginning of the queue. Imagine the intolerant look on my face at this particular moment. * sigh * Anyway, sorry, folks. I’ll make an announcement once I stop messing up and everything’s live in the Kindle store.
