Sorry. Yesterday was a blur, trying to get ATQM’s ready for its close-up. Confession: I have not yet read Fifty Shades. /hangs head in shame Deplorable, I know. It will be near the top of the reading list once episode 9 is put to bed.

We are getting down to the wire on Book 8. I can’t say exactly which day we’ll go live, but we’re getting very close. Also a heads up: The last two episodes will be priced at 2.99. There are a lot of reasons for this, including algorithms that aid in discoverability, but the most important reason — to me, anyway — is that Saint Emma (editor) needs a major pay hike. She’s been working like a Trojan, and I don’t mean the prophylactic kind. Or maybe I do, because without her, you all would be exposed to some very bad things. Last but not least, for you writers out there, I saw… Read More

I have a terrible writing habit I’m learning to loath. Whenever I know something is broken or wrong, or I want to leave myself a reminder to fix or tweak, I make notes right in the text surrounded by < >s. Isn’t everything always way more aggravating when you know you only have yourself to blame?

Morning, everybody. Book 8’s release date will be February 2013. This gives us extra time to clean up from its major overhaul. I’m actually still patching a couple spots, and because both Emma and I have been over (and over) this episode so many times, we need to let it rest a bit. Sort of like a roast. Only without the fat. And way more sex. Also, Joy’s sense of humor has once again reared its passive-aggressive head: I still love her despite such provocation. Remember this one?

It’s eighteen(F) degrees below zero — ambient, without the windchill — right now. That is plenty frickin’ cold. Yikes. On the up side, last Friday I finally just said “screw it,” and figured out how to rebuild this episode so that it’s not the world’s most boring slog ever. I cannot tell you how huge a relief that is. And now to get it done and back into Emma’s hands… Have a great Monday.

Because it’s Monday and I’m having trouble revising, and I’m feeling… oblique, I bring myself a threat about ‘the one you can’t have back,’ in all it’s painfully awkward glory: ETA: OMG trust das editor to come up with the ‘this can also happen when you’re trying too hard’ moment: It wins my vote for the ultimate burn against my maudlin self-pity: (And yes, that really is Jon Bon Jovi playing guitar)
